Rockland Trust

Rockland Trust has developed a strong partnership with Salem nonprofit Root to support their culinary training program and mission to alleviate food insecurity on the North Shore. In addition to providing Root a multi-year grant through the bank’s charitable foundation, Rockland Trust employees have also volunteered in the kitchen making community meals, donated kitchen tools and supported trainees with resume assistance and mock interviews.

Rockland Trust, a community-focused commercial bank headquartered in Massachusetts, has a 115-year history of supporting customers, communities and colleagues.

From financing impactful community development projects to supporting students, nonprofits and communities through its comprehensive giving program, Rockland Trust is deeply committed to cultivating resilient communities where every individual is vested in sustainable economic growth.

“Relationships are at the heart of everything we do,” said Rockland Trust Vice President of Charitable Giving and Community Engagement Andrea Borowiecki, who is also the executive director of the Rockland Trust Charitable Foundation. “We believe that a rising tide lifts all boats.”

It is this belief that guides Rockland Trust’s giving program, which includes grantmaking through Rockland Trust Charitable Foundation, employee matching gifts, community programming, scholarships and company-sponsored volunteer time.

Rockland Trust is truly making a difference in Essex County – and beyond.

In 2023, the bank and its foundation – which is focused largely on issues of affordable housing, children and youth, financial inclusion and workforce development, and small business support – donated $4.2 million in grants and sponsorships to more than 900 nonprofits and community organizations across Massachusetts. Company-wide, employees logged 17,000 hours of volunteer time, served in a leadership capacity at 224 unique nonprofits and donated $25,000 through the bank’s matching gift program.

Right here in Essex County, Rockland Trust proudly supported 57 unique organizations through their giving program last year.

“Our robust employee matching gift program amplified the impact of individual contributions while our volunteer program empowered team members to actively participate in meaningful projects,” said Borowiecki.

Through RockCorp, the bank’s outreach program that offers staff two days each year to volunteer on company time, employees in Essex County volunteered at The Salem Pantry Mobile Market, served as mentors at LEAP for Education, conducted mock job interviews for young people at Root, served on the boards of numerous area nonprofits and more.

“We encourage our employees to support the good causes and nonprofit organizations that matter to them,” said Borowiecki.

Rockland Trust has chosen to partner with ECCF because the two organizations share a common vision.

“ECCF and Rockland Trust are strongly aligned in our mutual missions to strengthen our communities through supporting the organizations that serve the residents,” said Borowiecki.

And, like ECCF, Rockland Trust also believes in the power of collaboration, relationship-building and trust.

“By nurturing and deepening relationships, we lay the groundwork for sustainable growth and mutual prosperity,” said Borowiecki.

It’s a notion that is put into practice throughout the organization.

“Rockland Trust’s branches and offices serve as centers of community engagement,” said Borowiecki. “Our local teams work hard to be present by championing local businesses and nonprofit organizations that advocate for those in need.”
