katelyn m caruso memorial scholarship fund

This scholarship will honor a Reading Memorial High School graduating Senior who is a student athlete and is pursuing a career in Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Nursing or Health Science…The Helping Hands Scholarship. The scholarship will be awarded each spring.

Katelyn’s family has established the KATELYN M CARUSO Memorial Scholarship Fund to honor her memory and recognize students who wish to help others…a Helping Hands Scholarship. Through the generous donations of family, friends, coworkers and caring acquaintances, an annual scholarship will be awarded each spring to a graduating senior at Reading Memorial High School.

Katelyn M Caruso was a scholar athlete and proud graduate of Reading Memorial High School class of 2010. Katelyn played soccer, lacrosse and hockey at the varsity level all four years; a 12 letter athlete and two sport captain. She had boundless determination when it came to athletics, fitness and her career throughout her life. Katelyn was an honor student and was recruited to play D1 lacrosse at Quinnipiac University. She graduated with honors from Quinnipiac with a masters degree in Occupational Therapy in 2015 and went on to practice Occupational Therapy at Excel Orthopedics Specialists in Woburn. She furthered her education at Tufts University Graduate School for the Hand and Upper Extremity Certificate Program and became a Certified Hand Therapist in 2019, one of few in Massachusetts. She touched the lives of so many patients and loved the rewards of helping them heal. She traveled to the Dominican Republic with an Excel team to treat underserved patients as well. She worked as a Teaching Assistant for Tufts University Graduate OT Program. She also worked per diem at Spaulding Rehabilitation Center with brain injury patients, which she ultimately suffered from herself. Katelyn tragically passed in January 2023 at the age of 31 from a ruptured brain aneurysm. This scholarship looks to honor Katelyn’s legacy and help students who embody her determination, work ethic, love of athletics and her care and compassion of helping others.
