ECCF Opens the Door to Vital Conversations About Charitable Giving with New Hire

Beverly resident Jennifer Mayo joins ECCF as Assistant Director of Gift Planning and Advisor Relations

Danvers, MA – Essex County Community Foundation, a nonprofit organization that inspires philanthropy across the 34 cities and towns of Essex County, is pleased to announce that Beverly resident Jennifer Mayo has joined ECCF as the foundation’s new assistant director of gift planning and advisor relations.

In this new role, Jenn will focus on building deep relationships with area professional advisors, who play a key role in expanding support for the region’s nonprofit organizations and collaborative efforts to tackle systemic social challenges. She will also provide charitable gift planning and support to Essex County donors as they make decisions about their philanthropic giving and consider a donor advised fund with ECCF.

With more than $120 million in charitable assets, ECCF advises fundholders on giving strategies to reach their philanthropic goals and maximize their impact. The foundation’s family of 255 charitable funds delivers more than $7 million to nearly 9,000 grantees annually.

“In the last five years, ECCF has experienced incredible growth, indicating there is a real need and opportunity in the regional charitable giving sector,” said Stacey Landry, ECCF’s director of strategic giving and gift planning. “Jenn’s experience makes her uniquely suited at this moment to help scale and improve the way in which we support professional advisors and new donors on their philanthropic journeys.”

Prior to joining ECCF, Jenn was providing strategic advice to local businesses through her consulting firm, JM Consulting. She began her career in finance at Goldman Sachs in New York City and spent nine years at the firm, working in both investment banking and private equity out of the New York and London offices. Jenn also serves as an adjunct professor of business at Endicott College, where she teaches courses in personal finance and business strategy.

Jenn has had some very meaningful personal experiences with local philanthropy through her involvement with Team FrateTrain, the brand and fund set up to support her brother, the late Pete Frates, in his battle with ALS. Team FrateTrain provided crucial support to Pete in launching the Ice Bucket Challenge, which raised over $250 million for ALS research worldwide. Jenn also serves on the board of trustees of the YMCA of the North Shore.

“We are so fortunate that ECCF will be the beneficiary of Jenn’s incredible experience,” said ECCF President and CEO Beth Francis. “Not only will she provide valuable insights and a fresh perspective on our work, but she will also play a key role in facilitating vital and authentic conversations about charitable giving.”

Jenn, who is a native of Beverly and currently lives there with her family, is equally enthusiastic about her new role with ECCF.

“Charitable giving is such an important decision that donors and advisors put a lot of thought into,” said Jenn. “I am thrilled to join an organization where I can be part of those conversations that not only inform the decision-making process, but also ultimately lead to the betterment of our local communities.”

“Being from Essex County makes the job all the more meaningful,” she added.
