Joe Knowles (Trustee)

Institute for Health Metrics

President and CEO of the Institute for Health Metrics, a nonprofit incubator of information-based solutions aimed at improving healthcare, Joe Knowles is an experienced entrepreneur focusing on enterprise development. Before IHM, Knowles was a co-founder of Brooktrout Technology, a leading voice-processing firm. He has been an active Trustee for schools, arts groups, and housing organizations throughout Essex County and was a Visiting Scientist in the Department of Society, Human Development and Health from 2002 to 2010 at Harvard School of Public Health. Knowles holds three patents related to formulations chemistry and is a frequent speaker on enterprise creation and development for the MIT Enterprise Forum

Ben Langille (Trustee)

Affilated Managers Group

Ben Langille is senior vice president and senior counsel at Affiliated Managers Group, a publicly traded global asset management company with equity investments in a diverse group of boutique investment management firms. Ben focuses primarily on investments in new AMG affiliates and other legal matters. Prior to joining AMG in 2008, Ben was a mergers and acquisitions attorney with Simpson Thacher & Bartlett in New York. He received a J.D. from Boston College Law School and a B.A. from Colby College. Ben was most recently a member of the Board of Trustees of Harborlight-Stoneridge Montessori School in Beverly, and served as the school’s treasurer and chairman of the Finance Committee. Ben lives in Manchester with his wife, Michelle, and his children, James and Stella. Ben and Michelle are part of the ECCF NextGen Program, and Michelle serves on the ECCF Grants Management Committee. 

Myranda O'Bara

Oakmont Partners

Myranda "Mimi" O'Bara has spent the past 25 years devoted to serving individual clients, small institutions, and not-for-profit organizations by developing and implementing investment strategies, setting portfolio structure, and providing the highest level of client service. Mimi is concerned with both the financial and personal success of her clients and is also a highly regarded expert in the area of women in investing. Prior to joining Oakmont Partners, Mimi held senior positions at PNC Bank, New England, and was a founding partner and Managing Director at Johnson Illington Advisors. She also established the nationally distributed Fund for Charitable Giving, and has served as Chair of the Fund’s Board of Directors.

Jon Payson (Trustee)

Wellington Management Company, LLP (retired)

Jon graduated from Yale University in 1979 with a BA in Economics and Political Science. After eight years at a private investment firm in New York City, Jon joined Wellington Management Company, LLP in 1987, becoming a Senior Vice President and Partner in 1995. Jon served in a variety of management roles at Wellington, overseeing a global relationship management group and the firm's corporate operations. In addition, Jon was the President and Chair of the Board of the firm's national trust bank subsidiary during his tenure at Wellington. A former Marine Corps officer and Gulf War veteran, Jon is an honorary Trustee of the Catholic Center at Yale University, and is an airplane and helicopter pilot. Jon resides in Beverly.

Jim Rullo (Trustee,  Investment Committee Chair)

Wellington Management Company, LLP (retired)

Jim Rullo retired in 2014 as a Senior Vice President and partner from Wellington Management Company, LLP, a $900 billion investment management firm in Boston where he worked for over 20 years. At Wellington, he headed a team of 20 investment professionals in the Quantitative Investment Group, managing more than $30 billion in assets for a global client base of corporate, sovereign government and nonprofit clients. Most recently, as global strategist for the firm, he had primary spokesperson responsibility for a $90 billion mutual fund family client. He holds a BS in Finance from Boston University and an MBA in Management Information Systems from Babson College. He is a member of the board of trustees at Babson and chairs the investment committee at the Boys and Girls Club of Lawrence. Previously, he served on the board of Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Boston. Jim lives in Andover. 

Kevin M. Tierney Sr. (Trustee)

North Shore Bank

Kevin M. Tierney, Sr. is currently the president, chief operating officer and director of North Shore Bank, a $750 million community bank located in Peabody. Prior to joining North Shore Bank via a merger, Kevin served as the President & Chief Executive Officer as well as Director of Saugusbank, a $200 million state chartered mutual community bank located in Saugus, Massachusetts.  Before joining Saugusbank, he served as Executive Vice President and General Manager of BISYS Group’s Corporate Financial Solutions Division, based in New York, which provided corporate banking services to Fortune 500 company treasury departments as well as to the life insurance and health insurance industries. From 1999 to 2004 Mr. Tierney was executive vice president and chief operating officer of Abington Bancorp, a $1.2 billion, publicly traded bank holding company located in Weymouth, Massachusetts. Mr. Tierney has also served as executive vice president and general manager of a division of Electronic Data Systems Inc. Plano TX., where he oversaw a business unit that provided emerging payment and electronic banking technologies and services to the retail and financial services industries. Mr. Tierney currently serves on the boards of the Planning Office of Urban Affairs in Boston and Essex National Heritage Commission where he also served as president, and he serves as a director on several other local nonprofit organizations. Mr. Tierney attended Northeastern University and earned a Masters in Banking from Sheshunoff Banking Institute at Louisiana State University. Kevin resides in Danvers.

Joseph Trainor

Joe has over 26 years of financial and investment experience. Joe serves as the Head of the Boston Hill Advisors Investment Committee and has primary responsibility for investment decisions. Prior to joining Boston Hill Advisors, Joe was Managing Director U.S. Trust, President U.S. Trust Institutional, President MFS Institutional Advisors, Chief Investment Officer Partners HealthCare System (Affiliate of Harvard Medical School teaching hospitals), Deputy Treasurer Partners HealthCare System, Chief Financial Officer Brigham and Women's Hospital, and Treasury Manager Honeywell Information Systems.

John C. Walsh, CFA

Brown Brothers Harriman & Co.

John joined Brown Brothers Harriman & Co. (BBH) in 1991, and now serves as the Office Head for BBH's Boston Wealth Management office. Prior to joining BBH, John worked as a commercial banker for Bank of New England and a consultant for Bain & Co. During the 1990's, he served as an investment banker at BBH, advising owners of successful, privately held companies in the sale of their companies. He then joined BBH's private equity business and spent six years as one of five partners overseeing the investment of a $377 million mezzanine debt/equity fund. At the conclusion of this fund's investment period, John joined the Wealth Management group. John serves on several boards of privately held companies and nonprofit organizations. He received his BA in Economics and Mathematics from Dartmouth College in 1987. John and his family live in Wenham.
