Community Foundations

There are over 900 community foundations in the USA serving all parts of the country and the purpose of all of them is to be a hub, a magnet, a convener and promoter for philanthropy and charity in the regions they serve.

Community foundations offer donors centralized and cost effective services and provide nonprofits with grants and support services to improve the quality of life of the people they serve. Like schools, hospitals and banks, a community foundation needs to build a lasting infrastructure to support the health, education, culture, environment, heritage and social services of it's home communities.

The main building blocks that a community foundation uses are donor funds that are established by individuals, families, associations and companies. Those funds perpetuate the services and programs the donors' care most about. They become, in fact, a wonderful and vital investment in the community itself.
